According to the   <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mites.gob.es\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ministry of Labour and Social Economy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the basic rule is not to use a ladder to work. If necessary and whenever it is not possible to use a work platform, a series of measures must be adopted.   <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.insst.es\/documents\/94886\/327166\/ntp_239.pdf\/c0e26253-5bed-4177-93da-644b921956c8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">measures<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Manual ladders are generally used in all types of industries and jobs, producing <\/span><b>a large number of accidents<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, most of which <\/span><b>can be avoided<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with careful construction, conservation and proper use. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Construction, falls from height are between <\/span><b>8% and 10%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  of fatal cases of occupational accidents. The   <\/span><b>ladders<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  they are one of the most dangerous tools. They cause around   <\/span><b>5,000 accidents per year<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2020, in the <\/span><b>Construction sector<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the rate of occupational accidents <\/span><b>decreased by 14.9%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The  <\/span>fatal <b>accidents decreased by 18%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> compared to 2019, with 120 deaths in total. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It should be noted that in 2020 the sector was paralyzed for a few months due to the COVID-19 pandemic<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. If we compare with the data from 2018, the number of deaths increased (+20). In the   <\/span><b>Industry sector<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the rate of <\/span><b>occupational accidents in 2020<\/b> <b>decreased by 17.9%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. However, the  <\/span>fatal <b>accidents grew by 21%,<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a total of 108 deaths.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(source: Occupational accident report of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security 2020.  <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mites.gob.es\/es\/estadisticas\/monograficas_anuales\/EAT\/2020\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Statistics on Accidents at Work. ATR 2020 <\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>Economic Factor vs. Efficiency. <\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is very common for ladders to be used on construction sites. They are an option of   <\/span><b>Low cost, easy access, practical and effective in the right working environment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, providing temporary access to work at height. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On a daily basis, they are perceived as a &#8220;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tool of the trade<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;, they require little or no training, there is one of them in every home, and everyone <\/span><b>assumes that they know how to use it<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/liftisa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/post-blog-eliminar-escaleras-3-min.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3518 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/liftisa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/post-blog-eliminar-escaleras-3-min.png\" alt=\"Ladders should be banned in workplaces in Spain\" width=\"700\" height=\"431\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But the issue is less about safety and more about how <\/span><b>quickly<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> we can get the job done. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trying to eliminate stairs based solely on a safety message is not enough. What the market really wants is   <\/span><b>efficiency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to perform the work optimally in the shortest possible time. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A ladder is a simple and portable system to reach the height you want. And although it is true that over the years the   <\/span><b>Ladders are becoming more and more complex<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with wider bases and platforms at the top, so <\/span><b>they are no longer so portable<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><b>The needs of the lifting sector.  <\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Studies have shown that it is <\/span><b>three times faster to work from a lifting platform for work at height<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  than from a staircase. The use of stairs is probably frequent if we refer to the   <\/span><b>smaller businesses<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, due to their functionality, ease of use, and low cost. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/liftisa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/plantilla-blog-700-x-431-min.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3527 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/liftisa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/plantilla-blog-700-x-431-min.png\" alt=\"Stairs should be banned\" width=\"700\" height=\"431\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, if we look at <\/span><b>larger companies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ladders are becoming less and <\/span><b>less regarded<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  in construction, both for the client and for the company that employs the workers.
