Do you know the 4 MEWP Certificates?

MEWP Certificates are aimed at offering the necessary knowledge for the use and handling of 4 different types of Lifting Platforms and with each one a different Certificate is obtained that contemplates and defines the UNE regulations.

  1. Vertical Static MEWP: Mixed towers and single-man mast. The Type 1A certificate. UNE 58923:2017 Standard.
  2. Static Arm MEWP: Articulated and Telescopic on vehicles. Type 1B. UNE 58923:2017 Standard.
  3. Vertical Mobile MEWP: Mast and Scissors. Type 3A Standard UNE 58923:2017.
  4. Mobile Arm MEWP. Telehandlers, Articulated and Mast. Type 3B Standard UNE 58923:2017.

 

What do these courses consist of?

The trainings consist of a theoretical and a practical part.

The theoretical part that we offer at LIFTISA can be done ONLINE, or face-to-face and tailored to the needs of each company. The practical part, always face-to-face, is adapted to the needs and machinery of the training. In all our training centres we have the machinery or vehicle to carry out the training in the most adapted way possible to the needs of our Customers.

The training covers concepts common to most MEWPs, although in the practical part we focus on the interest of the customer, depending on the machine they are going to use in their day-to-day work.

Practical training is carried out to offer the student the opportunity to demonstrate the skills learned in a safe environment, under the direct observation of our qualified trainers.

The user’s skills will be evaluated using the premises defined to obtain the certificate.

The trainings cover the following general aspects:

  • Rules and regulations.
  • Types of platforms.
  • Main parts and their functions.
  • Security systems.
  • Pre-use visual inspection.
  • Safe operating procedures, limitations, risks, and controls.

 

And they complement more specifically for each of the types of Certificates:

  • Type 1 Certificate: Vertical statics.

UNE 280 Standard: Type 1 Group A.

The projection of the load’s center of gravity is on the inside of the tipping lines. Transfer options are possible if the MEWP is in transport position.

The theory class provides the necessary information for the safe use of mixed towers and single-person masts.

  • This Certificate is valid for working throughout the European Union.
  • This training complies with current legislation on the handling of lifting platforms:
  • Royal Decree 1215/1997.
  • Law on the Prevention of Occupational Risks 31/1995.
  • UNE 58923:2017 Standard.

 

  • Type 1 Certificate: Arm Statics.

UNE 280 Standard: Type 1 Group B.The projection of the load’s center of gravity is on the outside of the tipping lines. Transfer options are possible if the MEWP is in transport position.

The theory class provides the necessary information for the safe use of articulated or telescopic machines on vehicles. Royal Decree 1215/1997, Law on the Prevention of Occupational Risks 31/1995, Standard UNE 58923:2017

  • Type 3 Certificate: Vertical mobile.

UNE 280 Standard: Type 3 Group A. The projection of the load’s center of gravity is on the inside of the tipping lines. The travel options in the raised position are controlled by an organ located on the work platform.

The theory class provides the information needed for the safe use of mast or scissor aerial boom lifts. This training complies with current legislation on the handling of lifting platforms:

  • Royal Decree 1215/1997.
  • Law on the Prevention of Occupational Risks 31/1995.
  • UNE 58923:2017 Standard.

 

  • Type 3 Certificate: Arm Mobile.

UNE 280 Standard: Type 3 Group B.

The projection of the load’s center of gravity is on the outside of the tipping lines.

The options for moving in the elevated position are controlled by an organ located on the work platform.

The training explains the following concepts about aerial lifts, telescopic platforms, articulated and mast lifts:

  • Safe operating procedures, limitations, risks, and controls.
  • The theory class provides the information needed for the safe use of aerial lifts, telescopic platforms, articulated and mast lifts. The user’s skills will be evaluated using the premises defined to obtain the certificate.

This training complies with current legislation on the handling of lifting platforms:

Royal Decree 1215/1997.

Law on the Prevention of Occupational Risks 31/1995.

UNE 58923:2017 Standard.
