In the event of an accident, it must be accredited to the Labour Inspectorate that the operators operating the lifting platform had the necessary knowledge to do so with maximum safety.

What are the classifications of lifting platforms?

Lifting platforms are mainly divided into two groups:

    • Group A: These platforms have a vertical projection of the center of gravity (C.G.) of the load that is always within the tipping lines.
    • Group B: These platforms have a vertical projection of the load’s C.G. that can extend outside the tipping lines.

What is the weight capacity of a lifting platform?

The maximum weight capacity of a lifting platform depends on the type, model, and working height.
Lifting platforms typically have a load capacity ranging from 150 kg to over 450 kg, especially in the case of material lifters

When should a lifting platform be used?

Lifting platforms are fundamentally versatile machines that are used to lift and move people, tools or materials to a working position when it is in areas that are inaccessible at height. Lifting platforms allow the work to be carried out safely and efficiently.

What is an articulated lifting platform?

Articulated lifting platforms are equipped with an articulated arm that allows access to hard-to-reach areas.
These platforms are ideal for working at height in tight spaces and when obstacles are located just below the work area, as they can rotate on their own axis to avoid obstacles.

What is a Type A platform?

Type A MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms) are those in which the vertical projection of the load’s center of gravity (C.G.) is always within the tipping lines.

What does the UNE 58923 standard regulate?

The UNE 58923 standard defines the operator requirements and training procedures for the safe operation, use, and handling of various groups and types of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs).

What elements make up a MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform)?

The elements that make up MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms for Personnel) vary depending on the type of operation to be carried out.
Most MEWPs include the following components: work platform, extendable structure, chassis, and additional elements such as stabilizers or service components.

When should a MEWP be used?

Lifting platforms (or MEWPs) are used to lift and transport people, tools, or materials to a work position in hard-to-reach areas.
These platforms enable work to be performed safely and efficiently.

What types of lifting platforms are available?

There are several types of lifting platforms. The most common include:

    • Articulated Boom Lifts
    • Telescopic lifting platforms
    • Scissor lift platforms
    • Single-person lifting platforms

How much does a lifting platform weigh?

A lifting platform can weigh anywhere between 150 kg and 7,230 kg, depending on the type, with articulated arms being among the heaviest models.

How does an articulated platform operate?

Articulated platforms are a type of lifting platform, characterized by their articulated arm.
One end of the arm is attached to the base or chassis of the machine, while the other end supports a lifting basket. Articulated platforms are primarily used in environments that are difficult to access or confined spaces.

How much does a scissor lift weigh?

The weight of electric or diesel scissor lifts will depend on the height to be worked or the load capacity. The higher the height and load capacity, the heavier the scissor lift will be. The approximate weight of electric and diesel scissors can range from 880 kg to 3000 kg.

How much does a scissor lift weigh?

The weight of electric or diesel scissor lifts depends on the working height and load capacity.
Generally, the higher the height and load capacity, the heavier the scissor lift will be. The approximate weight of electric and diesel scissor lifts can range from 880 kg to 3,000 kg

How do you handle a scissor lift?

Electric or diesel scissor lifts are made up of a hydraulic system that is responsible for providing the power needed to raise or lower the platform. On the platform or basket is the scissor control, with which the desired movement will be controlled.

    What is a scissor lift?

Scissor lifts are lifting platforms powered by a hydraulic system.
They are called “electric” or “diesel” scissor lifts due to their appearance when in operation, which resembles the movement of scissors at certain heights.

How does a lift platform work?

A lifting platform is a type of multifunctional machine that is used to lift people, load materials or tools in a workplace at a certain height or difficult to access. If the lifting platform is electric or diesel, it will have a control table with a joystick from which the movement will be controlled.

    How is scaffolding used?

Scaffolding is a temporary platform that allows access to different heights and serves as external support in various projects and structures.
Scaffolds can reach varying heights, up to 25 meters.

What is the weight capacity of a scaffold?

According to the European scaffolding standard, UNE-EN 12811-1, the load capacity of scaffolding can range from 75 kg per square meter to 600 kg per square meter.

What components make up a scaffold?

Scaffolding is mainly divided into two parts: the scaffold structure, which includes the diagonals, frame, and plates, and auxiliary elements such as the railing, platform, and stabilizers.
