Why is MEWP training so important?

When we think of working at height, we don’t always think about the dangers that it can entail, we think only about access, about the access solution.

But the solution must always provide security.

Although working at great heights is associated with the risk of accidents and fatal injuries in the workplace, access solutions at heights at all levels also require a safe solution and training in correct use and handling so as not to put the user or their equipment at risk.

With this in mind, we recommend MEWP training for whatever the height of the machine to be handled. It ensures a complete overview and awareness of safe working at height.

At LIFTISA we offer you options in the 6 MEWP Courses, each with its specific Certificate.

Do you have the training?

Want to check if you’re making the most common security mistakes?

Here are some ideas.

  • Not having the Base well secured.
  • Omitting stabilizing components, or accessories from the basket.
  • Unlocked/locked wheels.
  • Machine balance on sloping terrain.
  • Do not check the equipment before use.
  • Not checking the environment in which the work at height will be carried out.
  • Gain more weight than you allow.
  • Destabilize the machine by supporting all the weight in one part.

It is important to carry out a quality check before use to ensure that everything is up and running.

If work has to be interrupted, it is important to check that everything is set up correctly before returning.

All platforms and access solutions require a good balance:

  • If your balance fails, you run the risk of a fall, which can be harmful at any height.
  • If you’re working with low-rise solutions, fitness is key.
  • If balance is an issue, you’ll need to use appropriate low-level access solutions, such as one with higher guardrails and additional safety features.

Potential hazards include pulling your body too far, outside the basket boundary, to access something, climbing over platform railings to get higher, and generally failing to observe hazards at height and on the ground.

At Liftisa we offer training for MEWP Platforms.
