Is Maintenance mandatory?
According to the UNE 58921:2017 Standard, Machinery Maintenance must be carried out to check its effectiveness and safety.
If you own a machine, you must carry out preventive maintenance. To do this, the instructions in the Manufacturer’s Manual and the periodicity indicated must be followed.

What maintenance documentation do I need to have?
- Maintenance recorded in the Maintenance Book.
- Include all the actions carried out, the dates, nature of the machines and frequency.
- Detail upcoming maintenance actions.
- Also indicate the name of the technician who has carried out the maintenance.
- Signature of the technician as it has been made.
What does Maintenance consist of?
The Maintenance of a Mobile Elevating Platform for Persons (MEWP) is the set of preventive operations to check the effectiveness and safety of the machines, according to the manufacturer’s instructions and according to the working conditions, frequency of use and specific legal regulations.
What checks are done with Maintenance?
Tires and wheels:
The operator must supervise the tires, already included in the daily review and in case of finding any defect such as tears, cuts, punctures, etc., the appropriate means must be put in place to solve the problem. The size and characteristics of the tires must be the same as those replaced. A foam-filled tire should never be replaced by an air-filled tire.
Levels
Check fuel and oil levels in order to determine if refills are necessary. If necessary, make sure that the tank is the corresponding one in each case.
Protect the chassis from direct exposure to weld spatter and cut metal if such activities are being performed.
Is the Annual Safety Review mandatory?
According to the UNE 58921:2017 Standard, Annual Safety Reviews must be carried out, to ensure the conformity of the operation according to the manufacturer.

What is the Annual Security Review?
The Annual Safety Reviews are the periodic, structural, functional and operational checks of resistance and conservation, to guarantee the maximum performance of the machine according to its conception and manufacture, as well as the safety and health of the people who operate with them.
What revision documentation should I have?
- Mark verified transactions in the corresponding boxes of the Periodic Review Sheet, including:
- Owner details.
- Machine. Model. Serial number.
- Hours of operation.
- Name and signature of the technician who has carried out the inspection and the date of performance.
- The results of the operations must be made available to the relevant authorities for the entire service life of the machine or until the next service.
